I get blurry blue screen which wouldn't let me see anything

Hello everyone. My HP touchsmart tm2 started getting problems last year. Then i disabled the Intel HD graphics card and since then i have been using it without any issue.

Today, when i rebooted my system, i got blue blurry screen and i couldn't see anything, windows was working though. I turned off and on many a times and finally now i am able to use it.

Now i want to know, whether its a graphics card issue ? If yes then please help me find out which card model should i buy to replace the existing one. I contacted the intel support but they didn't help me because its a branded laptop

When i clicked on device manager, i could see 2 cards there: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5450 and Intel(R) HD Graphics.
Both of them are disabled at the moment. The 1st one i disabled today when i got that blurry screen.

I don't want to buy a wrong model of card for this laptop. In fact, i am even not sure if the graphics card is replaceable or not.

My laptop model is HP TouchSmart tm2 Notebook PC.

    Thanks.

Hi I could be wrong on this but I think the intel graphics is part of the cpu and the ATI is integrated on the motherboard.

I would start by blowing out the laptop. Then see if their an updated driver

Driver is up to date, it says. It shows the prob only when i turn on the system. After few minutes, it starts working properly and remains so even if i work for whole night/day. do we get any clue from this ?

how are you checking if the driver is up to date? through device manager? if so I would be checking hp support site to see if they have a current driver. from the sound of it probably not a driver issue but cant hurt to check. maybe it has something to do with the screen itself until it warms up (just a guess)

I just checked on the HP website. My ATI (which is enabled now) shows 8.771.1.0 version and this link HP TouchSmart tm2t-2200 CTO Notebook PC - Driver Downloads | HP® Customer Support also shows the same. As far as Intel HD card is concerned, that is disabled for 1 year, so i can't check.

Should i connect my TV and see if that runs well? or what should i do at this stage?

    Hi All,
    Greets,
    Sir(s),
    @HT2013 : Sir,
    1) It seems the problem is with the BIOS updation! How can we assume both the graphic cards are having issues ? Did you ever make any changes in the BIOS ? Did you use any 'Modded Bios', 3rd party activations, etc. ? May be it needs updation But we would not jump directly to that and first check out some basic things! Because undoing BIOS is a difficult thing.
    2) I would start by blowing out the laptop ( by oscer1 )
So, would I! Can you try ? Be careful!
    3) Before anything else, please make a 'System Image' for precautions.
    4) Do you have any virus/infections ?
    5) Did you use any performance optimizers ? Any Registry editors/cleaners ?
    6) Can you try a hard reset ? You have a laptop with removable battery ?
    7) Can you try a 'Clean Boot' and notice the changes if any?
    8) Can you try running 'sfc/scannow' and report ?
    9) Can you install latest chipsets drivers and then graphic drivers ?
    10) Can you try restoring 'setup defaults' in BIOS ? Be careful !
    11) Did you try reinstallation / factory reset ?
    12) Do you have any other issues ?

Let us know before taking any steps. I would like to know what you are comfortable with and then decide how to proceed.

    Thanks & Regards. ...
