I have not tried drivers past 4678 and do not plan to, as this system has been stable for a while. If I recall correctly I did get some minor graphics artifacts within lotus 1-2-3 (a poorly behaved 20 year old program I use a lot) when using ver 4678 which is why I went back to 4664. I just ran tests on my i7700k hd630 kaby lake-7th gen running driver 4664 and it passes all the xtu and ipdt tests without a hitch. But in my view, all that matters is stability in day-to-day performance. Stress tests stress a machine way beyond my daily needs, so I tend not to use them.
I see that the guy at videohelp is using my basic method, but his method is more involved and requires transferring igdumdin32. I would speculate that this is required for him because he is on a kaby lake-R 8th gen cpu, whereas I am on a 7th gen. The igdumdim32/64 files that are a part of 4678 were made prior to the 8th gen cpus, so presumably the newer versions are required for 8th gen cpus.
All told, I am confident that 7th gen kaby lake is rock solid on 4664 and 4508 within win7, but have yet to see evidence that there exists a method to get 8th gen running perfectly on win7. But good to see someone working on it.
