    Monitor not recognized properly, can't add resolution with CRU

    Hello guys,

    normally i find a solution here already but guess i gotta post this time .

    after removing my graphics driver with DDU and updating it to resolve another issue, my main monitor is suddenly not recognized properly anymore which leads to resolution and refresh rate settings missing in display options.
    It also doesn't show refresh rates added with CRU beyond the normal limit anymore, despite patching it with atimkdag-patcher. sadly i require those for a bunch of reasons :/. Oddly enough it works completely normal for my second Monitor.

    My primary is a Samsung Xl2370 and my secondary Samsung xl2370HD, which are not quite the same.

    So after reinstalling graphic drivers several times and removing/adding monitor drivers(generic pnp and from samsung site) in device manager with no change i looked with procmon for clues and found the following related registry keys which seem a little overfilled with garbage entries as seen in the screenshots:
    Display reg - Album on Imgur

    I tried deleting some of those keys but either it had no effect, or those with a "properties" key below are access restricted somehow and cannot be deleted. and i'm not sure if i can just delete all of those Control\GraphicsDrivers\Configuration safely? can i somehow get rid of those entries with "properties" keys?

    i also exported all the keys to pastebin in case someone wants to look at that adventure:

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E96E-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}]
    [REG] Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentContro - Pastebin.com

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\GraphicsDrivers\Configuration]

    [REG] Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentContro - Pastebin.com

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\DISPLAY]
    [REG] Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentContro - Pastebin.com

    oddly enough when i press edit on the display in cru it shows under range limits that its 60hz V rate which is 75hz for the other monitor which it should be after patching, changing this has no effect either tho. also the settings for this monitor reset quite some times which i think is due to the excess reg entries.

    lastly i found those log entries in C:\Windows\inf\setupapi.app.log after installing the samsung monitor driver, so its not recognized as a generic pnp monitor anymore(i dunno what those do anyway, probably they just add the right setting options for the display?). i noticed the shown name of the display seemed bugged so that seemed related

    >>> [SetupInstallFromInfSection - SMXL2370d.Install]
    >>> Section start 2019/05/13 20:18:49.203
    cmd: "C:\Program Files (x86)\MonitorDriver\MonSetup.exe"
    <<< Section end 2019/05/13 20:18:49.218
    <<< [Exit status: SUCCESS]

    ! dvi: Error 1168: Element not found.
    ! dvi: Unable to update reflected section names for: smxl2370.inf

    someone else has a clue how to fix this?

    OK i found a tool to run regedit as system user and managed to delete all of the entries, ran ddu again and reinstalled drivers, still no success, the entries seem cleaned up now tho.

    after reinstalling the graphics driver the monitor entry in the screen resolutions window still looks wrong. i can't find any more related registry keys to this, so probably there is something wrong with a driver file , maybe related to the log i posted, has anybody got an idea which other driver files are related to this/could be deleted?
