    Can't remove HD4800 from registry

In FSX I still se my graphics card as HD 4800 even if I now have a HD 5870. It is OK in device manager, listed as HD 5800 Series. In other programs and tools I see HD 4800.

So I searched the registry after a total ATI driver removal/cleanup and reinstall of the Catalyst 9.11 64bit edition. Still there are a few HD 4800 registry edits that I am not allowed to delete, even if I am administrator and have UAC OFF.

I hope someone can tell me how to get rid of those registry keys if possible.

If System Restore is enabled you may have restore points available to you from before you added the card in the first instance - just a thought...

There's no need to get rid of them. They are settings from previous control sets. They're supposed to be there.

You could use driver sweeper if you really want to then install latest driver from ATI's site.

So you are saying the OS needs to know about the previous card? OK I can understand that, but when FSX still sees only HD4800 it looks stupid to me. Guess it is FSX that is stupid (as always) and I that I can live with.

Thx for the tips folks. I'll forget this and keep going :)

No, that's not what I'm saying.

I'm saying that the entries are supposed to be there because Windows keeps it like that. Supposed to, in this case, does not mean "need."

    You're welcome.
