OK .. You asked for it

Like Vista .. W7 doesn't know the difference in .. Or the purpose for ... Icons and Thumbnails.
I'm looking for a way to disable the Thumbnails on the desktop so I can see the Icons ...
Without disabling all Thumbnail Browsing ... I can't see what I'm working with.

I've been able to Hack W7 and put some other XP tools back in ..
But this is a show stopper for me.

Ah alright. Ya I hear ya.

To me, those kind of things are a non-factor. I understand how many users like to customize etc...

They don't even enter my thoughts when I speak about drivers, how systems run, performance, how "good" an OS is etc...

Maybe someone can come along and have a recommendation or may know something. I'm sure anything is possible with the right info.

Microsoft will not even answer that one ... But many thanks
It would also be nice to be able to create a new Taskbar ... And park it on any edge of your Screen(s)

    Surely, you're welcome.

You're talking about having a 2nd taskbar on the same screen? That would be cool.

Display Fusion can be set to create a taskbar for a 2nd monitor. Apps can show on that taskbar when they are running on that screen

    or

it could also be set to let the default Windows taskbar handle apps and display them all there.

XP & Vista can make new taskbars .. and you can park them on any edge of your screens ...
and autohide them .. As many taskbars as you have edges.

In W7 .... You can only make a new task bar ... In the Task Bar ... Where it can get crowded.
Might as well have removed the whole feature.

Sorry to burst in on this thread, but im in exact same problem.
I have connected a samsung syncmaster 2232 BW (22") with my laptop. I only have a VGA port on my laptop but on my samsung i have a VGA and DVI port. I have connected the two devices with a VGA cable to their responding VGA ports....
The samsung screen has a 16:10 format and so has my laptop.
The samsung screen is identified by my laptop as a "Generic Non-PnP Monitor".

    Ok here is what happens:

    1. I set up multible displays, my main display is on my laptop (Nvidia default flat panel) and my secondary is on my samsung (Analog display)
    2. My laptops 1920 x 1080 resolution is crystal clear. My Samsung starts op in 1024 * 768 (16:9 format :S ) Which also seams to be clear.
    3. I want to change the resolution on the Samsung screen, i have only 16:9 formats available, i try the largest option 1600 * 1200. The samsung screen gives me an error message an suggest i should try with a 1680 x 1050. But that option is not available in my nvidia control panel?!
    4. I try to make a customized resolution. First i try to make it 1680 x 1050 but thats not possible (has this something to do with my VGA cable?).
    5. Then i try a custom resolution 1600 x 1000. This is possible but now i get a blurry screen.
    6. I go to my "Gernic Non-PnP Monitor" properties press update driver. With seaching for automatically for drivers: Windows tell me my drivers are up to date.
    7. I download the driver manually from sourceforge. I go to my "Gernic Non-PnP Monitor" properties press update driver. I choose browse for drivers, find the folder containing the drivers and click: Windows tell me my drivers are up to date.

So here i am. What would you guys suggest to do next?
The driver is called "Samsung SyncMaster 2232BW Monitor Driver 1.0" and it is an .exe file. I am afraid to mess things up by installing it?
How do avoid messing with my current screen drivers for my laptop?

    Thanks in advance! :)
