    My AMD Driver keeps Crashing

    Hi,
I have 3 AMD FirePro 2460 GPUs in 3 slots each running 4 Monitors so in total 12 monitors. They have 2015 drivers which I had downloaded from AMD site. They came out with new & last drivers in 2017 which I never installed since there was no need to.
I have been using 500 GB SATA HDD with Win-7 OS on it for over 7 years & never had a problem.
I just replaced 500 GB HDD with 500 GB Crucial SSD. After a month or so now my drivers keep stopping & recovering. So I went back to 500 GB HDD which is a clone of 500 GB SSD & it also now keeps crashing.

This happens whenever I use Windows Photo Viewer & Media player classic for playing videos. And it happens only with one video card & I know this because 4 monitors attached to it only stops.

    What should I do ?

    Please help.

    Thank you

    Hi,

You could try using Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) to uninstall any existing graphics driver, then install the latest graphics driver for your graphics cards from the AMD website. Here is a handy guide on how to use DDU: Display Driver Uninstaller: How to use | Tutorials (sevenforums.com)

Latest AMD Graphics Driver for FirePro 2460 for Windows 7 64-Bit found here: FirePro™ 2460 Drivers & Support | AMD

    Hope this helps,

    First Many Thanks.
I could not download the drivers but I do have the same version that I saved in 2017.
My question is, can I overwrite on the current drivers that are older version OR do I have to uninstall the old ones first & then install the latest version ?

    Hi,

Yes, you can install the latest graphics driver version for your card (In this case 2017 version is the latest), and it will simply overwrite your existing old driver as you run through the driver installation process for the new one.

HOWEVER, I strongly recommend uninstalling the previous driver first, before installing the latest drive, using Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU). There are multiple reasons for this, primarily because by simply update your existing driver to a newer one, chances are every registry keys and all the files for the old driver will not get fully overwritten/wiped, and you do not want any remains of the old driver lingering anywhere as they may cause problems with your new driver.

    All the best
