5600x vs 3950x for video editing and some gaming

1440p screen and very happy with 50-60fps for any game so I dont chase any more fps.

I do picture editing but getting into video editing. a neighbor friend wants to sell me his 3950x for $150 as hes upgrading himself. I have the 5600x. was considering the 3950x for video ediitng, davinci resolve maybe after effects. fusion is more problematic

3080gpu maybe 3090 if I can find a good price.

for gaming I dont play the newest games. usually im slow in playing anything new 3-4 later. I prefer more odd games. so gaming is partly important but im wondering if the 3950x is better for video editing.

in benchmarks the 5600x seems to be about 10-15% faster in single core but the 3950 seems to be 100% faster in multi core.
I think the 5600x is a good cpu but curious how much ill gain or lose with the 5600x for video editing

but where does it say it?

you mean the newer bios thats installed will have it that it wont allow a person to downgrade. it will say "old cpu? pis off" haha

thats the question. buying the cpu and then coming to realize I cant downgrade.

thanks again for the assist. always helpful.

It should say on the bios support page if it cant be rolled back . If it doesnt say that then you dont need to fret.
