    Nvidia 8600 Performance

    Hello

Did some digging around but could not find anything that addressed my issue directly.

I have a Nvidia 8600 GT graphics card with windows 7 ultimate clean installed on an amd athlon 4200 duo core 2.2ghz proccessor and 2 GB of ddr RAM

Installed latest drivers 8.17.11.9562 released from nvidia nov 20th 2009.

Everything appeared to be working smoothly until i began streaming divx. The sound was out of sync considerably from the start and continuing to get worse as the video played. The picture quality appeared to be lower as well.

Viewing flash movies from youtube produced "lagging" or skipping. At least 3-5 seconds apart.
These problems were mainly experienced in full screen viewing at 1680 x 1050.

The only temporary fix was to lower my colour quality from High -32 to Medium 16.

This has fixed the problem completely. However I can no longer use Aero effects.
I would like to use Aero. My performace ranks my card at a 6.4 for Aero performance
While in High 32 colour, Aero runs beautifully. So does every other feature for that matter. But video playback suffers. Having a media pc makes this a problem for me.

    Any idea or possibly solution?

    Thank You

    Hi.

You probably have a lot of useless "junk" starting with Windows causing the issue.

Type msinfo32 in the start menu. Hit enter. Ctrl+s on the screen that opens. Rar or zip the saved file and attach to a post using the paperclip. We can have a look.

In the meantime, visit Adobe's site with whatever browser you're using and update to the latest Flash.

AVG is your cause. Completely uninstall that from the system. Disabling has no effect.

    I will try this.
Is there another anti-virus that won't cause this problem that you can recommend?

I use integrated Kaspersky as part of ZoneAlarm Extreme.

I can't really speak of others but MSE should be good since it's made by Microsoft.

Disabled AVG and had no effect on the problem whatsoever.
    Any other ideas?
Divx movies using the web player appear to have diminished quality of picture as well

No, not disable. That doesn't do anything. Uninstall needed.
