    Video card recomendation for a Dell Dimension 4700

    I have a Dell Dimension 4700 PC with a P4, 3.0Ghz Processor and 1 GB of RAM. The graphics adapter, as per Windows Device Manager is the following:

    Intel(R) 82915G/GV/910GL Express Chipset Family

    Do you recommend me the same graphics card?? In the specs it has PCI and also PCI-Express slots.

    Thanks!

    Courtesy of the 305W power supply in it,

    I wouldn't recommend anything more than something like this,

    Newegg.com - SAPPHIRE 100295HDMI Radeon HD 4670 512MB 128-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards

    not the fastest, but still a very good budget card and won't require a PSU upgrade as well.

    I believe that with an experience rating of 1.0 ANYTHING will be more than adequate to make my computer perform much better. Right now Windows 7 looks like an enhanced version of XP (because the way I can see it running).

    Thanks for the recommendation.

    The core clock is actually fairly good on that at 750 mhz. The memory clock is also decent but it may suffer a little bit due to only 128-bit memory interface. It will be a million and one times better than what you have though. Worth every penny it's shown for.

    Would this card be for general desktop usage or games?

    Then a 4650 might be better, but I would highly recommend the HIS ICE-Q 4670:

    Newegg.com - HIS H467QS1GH Radeon HD 4670 1GB 128-bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards

    Note that if your PCI Express slot is v1 you won't get the performance in games, but for you this doesn't matter.

    For gaming quite a bit,

    techPowerUp :: HIS HD 4650 iSilence 512 MB Review :: Page 1 / 32

    Depending on the game it can be the difference of playable or not. For what you are planning on using it for the 4650 might be a better choice because of the lower price (on average about $20 less than the 4670).
