    Bad Resolution in Windows 7

    Hey everybody,

I'm new to Windows 7. I just wiped my hard drive with DBAN so it was totally clear. I installed Windows 7 and its working great except for one thing; my screen resolution is terrible and I can't fix it. It's currently stuck on 800 x 600 and my monitor is an LG206W capable of 1680 x 1050. Whenever I try to change the resolution nothing happens, it just goes back to 800 x 600. It says my display is a "Generic PnP monitor on Standard VGA Graphics Adapter" though so I'm thinking its probably a driver problem but I can't find a Vista or Windows 7 driver for the monitor anywhere. I dont have a fancy video card, it's just an old on-board gigabyte one.

    Any advice at all?

    Thanks

Have you tried installing a driver for your graphics card rather then the monitor? From what I can tell from your post you've only searched for a driver for your monitor.

Well you'll need to install the grahic card driver as well as a monitor driver. If you'd fillin your systen specs in your user CP top of page then edit system specs we can help you find the drivers. Fabe Bad Resolution in Windows 7-usercp-1.png

Please don't multi post the same post in different forums. Pick the appropriate forum, and just post the problem once. Thanks.
