Where to find nvidia's Pre release drivers on computer?

    Hi!

I was wondering where nvidia's pre release driver gets stored on the computer so that I don't have to re-download every time!

I want to copy them to my Setups folder, so that I can re use them.

I tried C:\Windows\Software Distribution but it was not there!

Also, why do I get a WDDM v1.0 driver and not a v1.1?

    Waiting for replies!

    Thanks!

Well for the most part device drivers are installed into the "C:\Windows\system32" and "C:\Windows\system32\drivers" sub folders by an installer. Each update you download will see it's own number where you can store those away in a separate folder by simply downloading to that directly.

Prereased drivers are also referred to as "beta" drivers with the advice of "use at own risk"! They are not the driver sets you would see the Windows update site locate and install for you there.

The v1.0 driver is obviously the latest "out of beta" driver available for general use. The v1.1 being in beta form is one you have to go to NVidia directly for. For the present time you should stay with the v1.0 until the v1.1 is out of beta and available at the normail download site. Drivers - Download NVIDIA Drivers

I still haven't tried DriverMax here on the versions that are connected online since I can easily locate the drivers needed for most everything. But I hope that get the drivers you want.

Unhiding system folders in folder options may help also. Just a thought.

The files and folders hidden from view are strictly system related there like certain inaccessible archives and boot files. 3rd party drivers are generally seen in plain sight when browsing the system32 and drivers sub folder to that.

If you want to see all the files including those marked System, you can use WinRAR to browse your PC.

At least that's what I do!

Also, I also found out that since I already have downloaded the update, I don't have to re download it!

I un-installed the Windows Update drivers and when I rebooted and came back, I thought why not try a re download any way from Windows update and then I learned that it executed setup without downloading a single byte.

That nails the fact that the setup of those drivers is definately located some where on my hard drive.

Also, I found that if I have to resotre drivers exported from DriverMax, then I have to do it from inside Drivermax, which is not what I want.

So, I will hunt for the setup now.

    Thanks for your replies!
