tried to follow manual guide for installing agp drivers for my sapphire 4650 agp card,
after changing the CL_91526.inf, and udating via device manager, it tells me the
'standard driver' is the best one to use???

If you are using a 64bit version of seven you need to update your chipset drivers first. Then take your time and follow the direction to the T. If it still won't work post back and we'll see what we can do. Thanks Fabe

i have time now so i can give you a little more background. ive not really got many
complaints about the 9.11 hotfix drivers, all my games work, RE5, CODMW2 etc. It just
that aero tends to close itself after a short amount of time and the text at the top of
    some windows display incorrectly.

I really would like to have all working as it should tho. using the ati drivers and
updating the .inf file sounds like a solution, but im stumped if i can understand why
windows 7 32bit wont accept the driver???

Well in all honesty It's going to be difficult since it is a socket 478 board and it's pretty old technology. But others have run it on pentium 3's. So my suggestion to you is first off make sure you have the latest chipset drivers and bios. Then disable all ports your not using such as floppy, paralell, ect. It's an SIS648FX chipset board with 8x agp. so long as you don't have any yellow triangels next to devices in device manager. Then you should be able to follow the sticky and modify the.inf for your card as explained. Some older systems just won't run seven. Where are you needing help with? at what point in the mod? Fabe

By not excepting it what do you mean it won't finish or it gives you an error code?

will check my chipset drivers but my bios is 1.14 latest asus offer, no yellow triangles
in device manager, i previously had an x850xt pe agp and that ran fine with windows
    7. all unused ports, devices disabled in bios.

windows update gave me my agp driver, and a few others, but not certain which ones they
were, could they have been my chipset drivers?

win 7 drivers for this mobo are thin on the ground from asus

When you navigate to C:\ATI\Support\9-11_vista32_win7_32_dd_ccc_wdm_enu\Driver\Packages\Display\W7_INF Do You see the CL_91526.inf file? IOf so you just need to double click i9t hit ok then let it install. It will probably say this driver is not signed but click the part that says let it install anyways. I know this is word for word what it says but it should work as llong as you see the CL_91526.inf file. Then let it reboot if necessary. he then explains to run the setup.exe file in the download in express mode if you want the CCC controls. Unfortunately this member is no lomger here so If I were you I would go over the install again and make sure everything is done exactly as explained and caps where needed ect. Fabe

hi thanks for your help :0)

my mistake, at step 7 i was selecting the wrong option, have it installed now.

but unfortunately aero is still the same

nothing has changed except now it says 4650 AGP in my device manager
whereas as it said 4600 series when i used the hotfix drivers.

which is a step in the right direction :0)
