Dual Monitors Can't get one of them to work.

    Hi

I know many threads have been written about dual monitors issues but I just can't seem to solve mine.
I came home from work today and both my monitors were completely black even though computer was up and running. Browsing through my iphone I noticed that dual monitors were a possibility. So I unplugged one and restarted with success.

I then proceeded to update my video drivers (I have a nvidia 6800) but the problem persists.
    Any ideas??

Ok, does this only occur with both plugged in?

I had a similar problem, but only one of my monitors did not work. If you have them both plugged in, do they both fail, or just one?
Are they the same model monitor?

Originally with both plugged in they were both black. I then unplugged one and updated the drivers. Now with both plugged in only one works.
They are not the same model. They are 2 Dell monitors but different sizes.

Ok, if one is older, then you may need to try a different connector/ adapter.

I've tried the different connector. No success.
This is so annoying I've gotten so accustomed to work on dual monitors I've almost forgotten how to work on one.

I had the exact same problem, check to see what the refresh rate is on the 2nd monitor, mine was @ 85Hz!!

It came back on once i turned it down again.

Post back and let me know if this has resolved your issue? :)

Reboot your computer in vga mode, and check the resolution settings, as well as the refresh rate. another thing to do, maybe roll back the driver. Even though the other is blank, do you see it in the display settings?

I see it in the display settings but it just doesn't come up.
I'm not sure what rebooting in VGA mode means!!!.
    Please explain.

    thanks

Reboot your computer, as soon as it begins to come up, keep pressing f8 until you see the black screen select: Enable Low Resolution Video (640 X 480)- Starts Windows 7 using your current video driver and using low resolution and refresh rate settings. You can use this mode to reset your display settings. My only concern is that it might not give the option to adjust your settings for the other monitor, but you can try. If my post is inaccurate, then I apologize.
