Purchased a graphics card but might of hit a snag

    I've purchased Gigabyte GTS250 1GB PCI E 1024MB Graphics Card GTS 250

    I didn't realise it's interface is a PCI-E 2.0

I only have PCI-E, will it work? And if it doesn't is there a way around it???

    Regards

As long as it's a PCI-E 1.0 slot, you will be fine. PCI-E 2.0 hardware is backwards compatible.

Won't the card run slightly slower than it could? As PCI-E 2.0 has extra bandwidth, so with PCI-E 1.0 bandwidth will be limited?

I agree with Fabe, Let us see what motherboard you are plugging into so that we can help you research what your possibility's are with your graphics card purchase.

Yes it will, but the important thing is that it will still work

As the others have said it will be fine in a PCI-E 16x 1.0 slot. Of bigger concern is the power supply, that GTS 250 requires a lot more power than your old 7300 LE. What is the total wattage of your current power supply (make and model number would help a lot)?

It's 350w bit on the low side, I will upgrade it a 450W psu soon, but the card came today and is running fine, but if any one reads this please refer to my new thread in the graphics section.
    Thanks
