Well the sequence is not an issue and the event utility has caused various issues one other thing to try is go to scheduled task and look for RAC and delete it this is know to cause random reboots mainly but it could be a factor it's supposed to check for reliability issues but usually causes an issue there are a lot of scheduled tasks going off in the background in Windows 7 I have slowly been weeding through them and deleting them

Well, in that case thats not the issue, I've had it disabled once. I've even had all services disabled once, made no difference. The driver just gets corrupted at some point, and it would be too great of an effort to isolate what service or scheduled task corrupts which ATI file. There's no traces anywhere.

The only reason I'm so persistent in finding a possible answer is because the card is perfectly fine from what I've seen. Running just one GPU doesn't even touch the performance it has with both. But I have to admit, it has become an obsession almost, because there's a lot of variables.

try this

try this open msconfig and go to boot tab click on advanced and under number of processors check the box and set it to 4 and then check the box for max memory and set it to 6144 and reboot

On vista x64 it was worse, crashed earlier in game startup than on windows 7 x64.

I haven't taken out ram, because the ram works fine after a driver install, and was ok according to memtest86+. You should see how flawless everything is after a driver install, and the performance, its great. Trust me, the RAM is good.

not so much that the ram is bad but i have read weird issues with 7 and more than 4 gigs was just curios what would happen also you might try a slight voltage bump in the pcie settings in the bios it could help to make it more stable

Hiya, i'm wondering if a pair of Radeon 5970s, overclocked, with water blocks included (and original fans/packaging) and a 'bonus' Nvidia 470 to boot is worth $600. I don't plan to keep the Nvidia i don't think. He tells me that was installed for 'Physix' - do many games make good use of that? ...
