Windows 7 crashing with nVidia GeForce Go 7950 GTX card
I have a Dell XPS M1710 notebook with a nVidia GeForce Go 7950 GTX graphics card.
Upon installing Windows 7 32-bit, my graphics card no longer shows up in Device Manager, it simply shows "Standard VGA Graphics Adapter". I attempted several times to download the latest drivers for my graphics card through Device Manager and the regular Windows Update, but after each attempt, blue screen would flash upon restarting, it would then restart again, and a message would display saying Windows could not be started normally. I would then have to re-install Windows 7 and start from scratch.
I also ran the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor and it returned: "Your current graphics adapter won't support the Windows Aero user interface."
Does anyone know if there is a valid driver for this video card that is compatible with Windows 7? If not, might there be a way to disable the Windows Aero feature and just have a standard Windows user interface, or is Aero the new standard user interface on Windows 7?
