Dell XPS One A2420 and Nvidia GeForce 9600M GT

I have a Dell XPS One A2420 with the Nvidia GeForce 9600M GT video card. I have been trying to upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. I cannot find a 64 bit driver for the 9600M GT that will work on this machine. In addition, the driver update from Microsoft will not work both in 32 bit and 64 bit. I have contacted Dell numerous times about this. Just before buying Windows 7, I talked to a Dell rep and he assured me that all the 64 bit drivers, including the 9600M GT 64 bit, would be available for Windows 7 for this machine. To date no drivers on there drivers download page. All you folks out there that have this machine need to start calling Dell and put the pressure on them to correct this. I have also noticed that the XPS One is no longer being sold on there Web site except for refurbished models.

Do you own one of these machines? Because if you do not, you don't know what you are talking about. And yes, I have been to Nvidia's website and downloaded that driver and tried it with the same result.

Really? Sorry about that then. That driver is for Nvidia 9600 GT. Its says that in supported models. After you install, what happens?

This happens in 32 bit and 64 bit. When I try to install the latest driver from Nvidia's Web using there install program, the process halts with a message "unable to install due to unrecognized hardware configuration". I have tried some of the methods I found in this forum. I actually get the driver to install. After rebooting, it works for a couple of minutes, then I get a black screen, recovers with a message, "Nvidia driver stopped responding and the system has recovered." Believe me, I have tried everything thing I can think of. I am basically stuck with the driver provided by Dell and that only runs in 32 bit.

Nvidia laptop drivers, get them from here,

Download NVIDIA drivers | drivers for mobile cards and laptops | laptopvideo2go.com

most are already have the modded INF so that they should install on just about any mobile Nvidia GPU, if it isn't they also have a modded INF you can use.

Stormy13, I will give that a try. This is happening in both 32 bit and 64 bit. I think it has something to do with the design and components used. This is an all in one. It is a desktop with laptop components. The reason I say that is because of the video card. The only integrated components is the Nic card and sound card. The rest I can replace, I.E. wireless Nic, video etc.
