    Extremely ancient card

I had no problems with XP with this card. Now even games like minesweeper tell me that my graphics card is garbage

My computer is around 5 years old and this is the first computer I've ever really had because I haven't had the money to get a new one until around now and I would like to get the most out of this while I'm waiting.

When I had XP running the graphics card ran things fine and directx worked fine, it seems as if it no longer is running fine.

Could be directx version be too high? It should probably be back down at 8 or 9 which I had on XP. Certainly not 11!

Youre card shouldnt even support 11. Try downloading 9 and installing. Also update the drivers, they play a big part.

I too had issues getting W7 to place nice with my older graphics card. Fortunately AGP cards are pretty cheap on Craigslist and eBay.

Looks like there are no Win7 (or Vista) drivers for the K8M800.

    The latest XP drivers are:

    http://www.viaarena.com/Driver/K8M80..._XP_wIShld.zip

and the latest WHQL drivers are:

    http://www.viaarena.com/Driver/k8m80...go_220001j.zip

You may be able to use them on Win7. (No Aero Glass with these onboard graphics, but that's hardly vital.) I've never installed XP drivers on Win7, but it's supposed to be possible.

I'm not sure, but the T3306 probably has an AGP graphics slot. I don't know whether you'd be game to spend roughly $40 (www.newegg.com, if you're in the US) for a card that supports Win7, but it's an option. (Make sure to get a card with 128MB of VRAM or more, and that supports DirectX 9 or later.)

That helped quite a bit, I would say. The XP drivers do work on Windows 7 fine. Thanks. Now minesweeper plays fine
