Problem trying to play games on HDTV - ATI x1200

    Hi,

I have my Sony 50 inch Plasma hooked up to my PC running Windows 7.

I have an ATI x1200 graphics card set at 720 x 1280. I get a great picture and everything fits to the screen. I can play DVD's etc with no problem but when I try and play a game such as Darkfall or use my Emulators the display flickers and then disappears.

I didn't have this problem with Vista although it would only allow me to play games in windowed mode most of the time.

Can anyone help me resolve this issue?

    Thanks

Your card is very old. Not a high-end card. I am suprised that you can watch movies on a 50" display! I am even more suprised that you could play games on it on Vista! Probably, since there are no drivers for Seven, you cant continue doing that, sorry.

It's not that old! The drivers are available for this card under Vista 64 bit and the card has HDMI output.

I read a preview of the card from 2007 which I guess in technology terms is a little old but certainly not ancient. Are we talking about the same card? It's a Radeon Xpress X1200.

Actually it is old. The Xpress 1200 is based on the Radeon X700, which is now 4-5 generations old and has been relegated to legacy status by ATI. As for a driver for it if you haven't give this one a try,

Thanks for the link but the driver is working in Windows 7. Like I said I can play DVD's and use applications but when I try to run a game it doesn't work. I have tried mame and Project 64 in windowed mode and they work like a charm but some games obviously want to run full screen in a different resolution which screws up the 720 1080 display. I could maybe use VM to run games windowed but is there another solution?
