    Multimonitor Question

Before I upgrade to Windows 7, i wanted to ask whether or not you can use multimonitor with an onboard graphics chip and a PCI-E 2 graphics card. They both connect via VGA ports, and for the moment I'm in XP. If you need any more info, just ask for it. Thank you.

    Welcome!

It entirely depends what cards you have. I cannot assess what will be compatible with what, but there is a good chance it will work. But then, if you are using it successfully in XP, you will very likely be able to use it with 7.

Before you upgrade, be sure to run Microsoft's Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor, available on their site.

    Hope this helps,

most pci-e 2 cards have two monitor outputs--most of those are dvi, but some have a dvi and vga. you can run both monitors off of the card if you have a dvi-to-vga adapter (obviously, for the vga port). as far as running multi-monitors on a integrated and discrete card at the same time, it would more than likely depend upon your motherboard. i know, for example, the some of the asus motherboards with ati chipsets run a setup called "surround view" that lets you run multi-monitor setups from the integrated port and discrete port at the same time.
