Why not update to the Beta 285. 27? Those 280.19 -.26's were known to have all sorts of bugs for users, including the driver stopped responding, firefox issues, etc.

No, but there is 1 exception.
Deus Ex HR. I get the driver stopped responding error alot. But its also much more than that with this game.
Started with the newest patch. Its constantly freezingand/or locking up my system, often forcing a hard reset.
If Im lucky, and am able to CTRL+ALT+DEL (which isnt always the case) and close it out, theres a a message the display driver stopped responding.
I can not play more than 10 minutes before it does this.
Other than that 1 game, no issues at all for me.
But, I have been trying the BETA driver lately & it seems better for Deus Ex.
An occasional C2D after a couple hours or so, but much better than lockups/freezing every 10 minutes or so.
So far, everything else in the BETA driver is working very well for me too.
It didn't work, still getting driver stopped responding and firefox hangs, having to resort to chrome at the moment.
sorry for Treble post, spoke to Nvidia customer care, here's what they had to say in live chat
[09:09:40 AM] Sen: Try changing it to "Windows Classic", sometimes it works.
[09:10:07 AM] David Best: oh god, that looks bad
[09:10:30 AM] Sen: Try that as a troubleshooting, not permanent
[09:11:04 AM] David Best: i'm just testing it now, bit of youtube surfing
[09:11:08 AM] Sen: Also what is the model number of your motherboard?
[09:11:42 AM] David Best: hang on, lemme fetch it
[09:12:05 AM] Sen: Sure, take your time.
[09:12:08 AM] David Best: Evga NF78-CK-132-A 3-Way SLI
[09:12:37 AM] David Best: i've also upgraded the BIOS recently as well
[09:13:44 AM] David Best: BIOS version is 2.053.L4 and the date is 12/30/2009
[09:14:10 AM] Sen: Okay.
[09:15:16 AM] Sen: Is the "Windows Classic" working for this case?
[09:15:33 AM] David Best: seems to be, i've been on a few sites and it seems to be quite stable
[09:17:54 AM] Sen: I checked with NVIDIA technicians, and they say this works.
[09:18:25 AM] David Best: shall i just keep it on classic until the next set of WHQL drivers come out?
[09:19:09 AM] Sen: Yes. It seems that will be the best.
[09:19:14 AM] David Best: i have a feeling it's not NV problem, it's all pointing toward Mozilla
[09:19:39 AM] Sen: Please give me 3-4 minutes, I am trying to contact NVIDIA technical team internally.
[09:19:49 AM] David Best: ok, take your time
[09:19:51 AM] Sen: Surely this is not an NVIDIA issue.
[09:24:11 AM] David Best: any luck?
[09:24:58 AM] Sen: I am sorry.
[09:25:12 AM] Sen: No other way as of now.
[09:25:19 AM] Sen: I got another information that...
[09:25:57 AM] Sen: Last week of Sept, NVIDIA is going to release WHQL version.
[09:26:28 AM] Sen: It will carry more fixes. So, please update as early as possible.
[09:26:36 AM] David Best: that's good news, hoepfully it should at least make it a bit more stable, but nevertheless, i'll be contacting Mozilla and ask about an update on their side as well
[09:26:39 AM] Sen: Also I am always here for your help anytime.
so until the next set of WHQL drivers are out in about a week, i'm sporting this sexy theme:
