It didn't work, still getting driver stopped responding and firefox hangs, having to resort to chrome at the moment.
Try FF 7 beta 6 or disable hardware acceleration temporarily. Didn't suffer from this issue with FF but I have not used FF 6.x with any of the 280+ drivers (using 7 beta).

Hey all. I recently got a new desktop running Win7 64bit with a geforce 560 Ti. I'm not sure what driver I had originally, it is a falcon NW PC and they come "preconfigured" but I was getting occasional driver crashes when using firefox. I should have looked to see what they had put on, but I didn't even have the nvidia box in my icon tray so I'm not sure what they did.

Anyways I updated to the new WHQL 285.62 driver a week ago and it is still doing the crash from time to time. I read the 275.33 was working well for someone with firefox? I am going to install those and see if the problem stops. It is quite annoying because it causes the audio driver to crash as well, so even though the video recovers I no longer have sound (need to reboot for that).

275.33 is widely regarded as more stable than all the 285.x drivers.

Yep 275.33 hasn't crashed yet. I figured I'd post again just in case other have the same problem.

I wonder what it is that is done to the coding that causes steps to be taken in the backwards direction, or at least for some software.
