the cards can easily handle 100c.. I had a GTX 280 that within seconds of Crysis it would go to 109c.. but it played smooth as can be and not a single stutter, but the fan was tryin so hard to work and cool that it would start making a pulsating sound.. I went down to a 260 and was all good.

I'm about to install RTM, and not sure what drivers I should install. I'm thinking I'll just do the latest WHQL drivers to be safe

It can handle 100c but it doesnt mean you have to run it at 100c, take for example the PWM that Asus uses on their motherboards, sure i t can handle 105c 24/7 but only at 200+ days, at 65c it lasts for 57 years.

I did a Windows Update and it offered nVidia new drivers for my card as an optional update and did not have to go anywhere else to get it installed. I did the install, I think like 112 meg, with no problems at all.
So give update a try first and get the one your system calls for.

fallout 3 stutter with these for me. never had that with any drivers. oh well back 186.39 again
Fallout 3 stutter still there. Back to 186 for me.
Same stutter/rendering problems in fallout 3 and Age of Conan as prev 190.xx drivers. Reverting to 186 drivers!

I'm going back to these Nvidia Forceware 186.39 @laptopvideo2go
    Nvidia Forceware 186.39 @laptopvideo2go ( recommended ) - Rage3D Discussion Area

Never had any problems with the 186.* series , especially that driver but these 190.* are well crap.

suppose you are right, because after setting "windows7 basic" theme the clocks stay normal ... switch back to aero and it starts jumping again...

but then again aero did not cause this with the 186's, so why is it so difficult to get it right in this rev.?
Another thing i don't like about these 190.* drivers in windows 7 are the 2D-3D clock switching , looking at evga precision they go up , down , up , down while in windows 7 using any app! . Not in the 18*.* drivers.

So whats the best driver for Win7 x64?? I've got a GTX295 and right now am using 190.38's they aren't great but they're not terrible... Should I try the new 190.60? or Try the 186.39's which I've seen some talk of here.

It's anyone's guess. Just updated 2 Vistas and 2 Win7s and the latter now have the old 59hz problem again....I give up!
