Yeah, that was listed for quite some time, but there were also reports from them that there would be a fix to lower the idle speeds in theses 256's somehow.

But it seems those reports were just crap.

What is meant by "inverting fan speeds"?
My 260GTX is running at fan speed 50%, according to Evga Precision and I'm idling at 46 degrees (with the 257.15 drivers). Previously I was idling at 50 degrees with the same fan speed.

the idle speeds and min thermal increase are handled VBios side.

Theres a polling bug on G200 cards which in rivatuner apps causes stuttering.

i expect since everest doesn'th ave that stuttering, it could be causing a state bug in the drivers handling of the fan which causes it to invert or randomly set itself outside of the normal operation settings.

I'm used to this happening on the 19x drivers, but only when i created a fan speed modifier in ntune which raises the fan 1:1 with the temp, but only have started getting it when using auto or a permanent setting of 75 since getting the 257 drivers.

i expect it could also be a nvapi bug causing everest to report 0c and 0rpm fan speeds at times too.

    Hi guys,

I'm currently running the 197.45 drivers on my GTX 285, are the new 257.21 any good for my GPU? I heard they have some problems with the fans or something like that. I also use MSI afterburner to boost my fan speeds when ingame.

only issue i've found is manual fan settings aren't sticking as manual, also if my gpu reaches temps below 50c, it'll drop the fan speed back to 40% or actually invert the % slider.
Same for me here with mine
Are you using everest or some other app to monitor the fan speeds in the background.... im starting to think this may be causing the inverting.

I just installed the 257.21 drivers and I don't seem to be getting any of these problems.
I'm monitoring my fan speeds and temps with both Rivatuner and EVGA Precision and they are both giving me the same readings, john

thats because they are explicitly random, and can occur at any time.
further, you should not be using either of those apps with a G200 card as you will see it causes a stutter every 2-3 seconds of gameplay.

Good lord...these drivers are coming out faster than I can install them lol.

Thanks for the heads up...I've read that these are better than the 257.29 drivers, which were awesome for me.
