    HDMI Monitor size

    Hello all,

I'm not very informed on computers (although I try and poke around for info) so I'm not sure if I simply made a faux pax or what.

I tried connecting my 24" Dell monitor into my desktop using an hdmi cable. It works, but it also reduced my screen size by an inch or two. Like a black box around my screen. I've used a vga cable through a DVI converter and it worked fine... is it simply not possible to use the HDMI to connect to the monitor?

(I tried it because both my desktop and monitor have an HDMI hookup... so why not?)

I'd really like to get this to work, so any help would be appreciated :)

    Welcome Rhod!

Try experimenting with your screen resolution and refresh rate. Right-click on the desktop and select Screen Resolution.

You can also try updating your graphics card drivers. Go into Device Manager, find your card, and select Update drivers from the right-click menu.

    Hope this helps,

Some system specs will help. What is your graphics card? The maximum screen resolution supported can be different, even on the same card, depending upon which interface is used.
