    missing 1920x1080 resolution

    Hi guys

i have tried googling and other forums to no avail so you are my only hope,so wondering if any of you guys have had this problem?, i have recently just formatted and re-installed windows 7, steam and counter strike source and previously i used to run my game at 1920x1080 but since formatting it no longer gives me the option of 1920x1080 in the video settings
I have checked drivers and all settings but can't seem to find the solution so any help would be most grateful

    many thx in advance

    Hi there,

Try changing the aspect ratio; some resolutions are only available in 16:9, 16:10, etc.

    Cheers,

Have you tried creating a custom resolution?

Do you have the monitor driver(s) installed? You show dual monitors in your specs, is this the same problem with setting both of them?

Try one monitor and modify the game's .ini file to match your resolution.

yeah tried the monitor drivers, uninstalled them then re-installed them
originally it was windows 7 rc1 ultimate x64 edition and evrything was hunky dory, the options in steam-video settings had the option (16:9-1920x1080) but now after i have installed windows again steam no longer has those resolutions, in my Nvidia control panel it says that both screens are 1920*1080p so dunno if it is a steam thing or not

    VGA cable unplugged a bit

I know this is old. but maybe someone googles it like I did. My friend had a problem and he called me to try to fix it. 1920x1080 missing, only 1600x1200 displayed as max resolution. After some time playing with settings and not getting anywhere, I checked the cable and it was a bit unplugged. I plugged it back in and problem solved. 1920x1080 reappeared.

    Hope this helps someone.

This was my problem. Made sure the plug was tight, then restarted the computer. Resolution back to 1920x1080

Found this thread and it solved my problem

Two days ago I turned on this computer and the resolution was off.

Right click desktop, Selected Screen Resolution.
And it's set to 1600x1200 and that's it.

    1920x1080 is missing!

I knew something had changed and I figured Windows had "done me a favour" and updated drivers. So I tried reapplying older drivers. Anyway, nothing worked. Then I Googled "1920 res missing" and found this thread.
Could it be? Something so simple? A loose cable?
Tighted the cable screws at both ends (the monitor and the PC) restarted. Voila! Came right back up in 1920!

Sometimes the simplest fixes are the hardest to find!

Thanks to those that posted earlier and thanks to the Forum for keeping this thread alive for me to find it!
