Video Related BSOD (Nvidia)
I just upgraded to W7 a few days ago, and have been getting semi-random BSODs that appear to be due to my graphics card. (dump files attached)
The error seems to happen when changing display modes. Once when viewing multiple IE windows (probably an Aero issue), but it consistently generates in Madden 04 (yeah, cutting edge, right?). Anyway, when it happens in Madden, it's always immediately after finishing a game situation and going to the results screen (full interactive 3D to video-ish style rendering). The frustrating part is that it doesn't happen every time that combo occurs, but if it pops, that's where it happens.
Asus CG5270
8 gb RAM
Intel Core 2 Quad Q8300 2.5GHz
Nvidia GeForce GT220
It looks like the Nvidia driver is the most likely culprit (and seems to appear in the forums where this issue comes up).
I started out with the 191.05 driver (got the errors), tried the 186.xx that came with the Asus W7 upgrade disk (got some weird visual artifacts on restart and immediately rolled back), and finally found the 195.55 beta drivers which seem to perform the best.
Updated the BIOS yesterday to the newest file from asus.com (along with chipset and audio drivers), which seemed to give stability for a few hours, and then the errors started up again. I don't know if there's any overclocking going on in the manufacturer BIOS file, but it seems more like an unhandled error in the graphics interface.
Any advice would be appreciated.
