First can you fill in your system specs with the troubleshooting guide in my sig? I can't recommend anything without your CPU/RAM/PSU - the CPU will be a major bottleneck with either cards.
holly **** wish i could afford those options. just on video card choice i would go with the ATI card as they are on top right now.

If you're wanting the PC soon, then I'd go for the ATI cards as Nvidia cards are on the horizon, so no point going for the 295s at the moment.
I wouldn't worry too much about compatibility with 5970 crossfire compared to 5870 crossfire, both will have compatibility issues, but that can only improve with driver updates.
if it makes anybody feel better ama buy the pc with the compoents inside not build it, u think there would still be compatibility problems
Unless you are into benchmarking, stick with a single Dual GPU.
They scale badly in games, are far more prone to bugs and simply aren't worth the effort for the price involved.
am in extreme gaming? why are dual gpus are more prone to bugs? i just wanna play really high graphic games like crysis, stalker, hawk etc.. at max setting with no lagg and high resolution, whats with all the compatibility issues and stuff? where is it coming from?
