    Help with dual monitor resolution

I use my laptop with Office 2007 to display PowerPoint notes on a screen using a projector. It has been awhile since I've done this - in fact, the last time I used Windows XP (32 bit). Now that I have upgraded to W7-Ultimate-64, I just tried to project onto a screen and the picture shows up (on the screen) with that sepia look - like the resolution or something else is not set right. I tried to tweak the resolution and also the dual monitor settings, but nothing helped. Anybody know how to fix this? BTW, I swapped out my laptop with another computer with XP on it and it seemed to work just fine, just not mine.

Does the laptop have a 'pass through' option ie a Function key that disables the laptop screen and displays the desktop on the projector?

Is the dual monitor set to clone/extended etc? If it's cloned, ie both the screens show the same, then they cannot be configured independently.

In the control panel settings of the laptops graphics device (nvidia, Catalyst , Intel etc) are there separate colour profile options for each display?

There is no separate controls for the laptop and the screen. When I set it up, I can set it so I see the same thing on the laptop as I see on the screen and the screen shows up with that sepia look and the laptop looks normal.
