Force an unsupported resolution in Windows 7?
Is there a way to force an unsupported resolution in Win7 (like in XP)?
I have NVIDIA GeForce 8400GS and Samsung SyncMaster 226BW (DVI).

Hello GCnew, and welcome to Seven Forums.
You might see if this may be able to help. However, it's usually best to not force a resolution that is not supported by your monitor or graphics card/chip. Serious damage can be done to them or your computer doing so.

Hope this helps,

cuz in XP I was able to use much larger resolutions with the same machine and display.
I tried to follow the instructions in the provided link but when I click 'Test' (nVidia custom resolution settings) it says that the resolution is not supported.
Hello.
Do you have the latest drivers installed from the Nvidia website? (not the Windows Update ones), since without them the card might not be recognized properly.
