hdtv not recognized

    hdtv not recognized


    connected my hdtv with a 2 way hdmi cable not getting signal or sound, but when i use hdmi to dvi cable i get video but not sound when i check under sound i only get realtek digital audio and speakers as my options no hdmi output, and i have nvidia which is not recognizing the hdtv when i use the hdmi to hdmi cable connection only the hdmi to dvi cable... help please?

    So you're saying when you plug in your computer to the TV with an HDMI cable, the TV doesn't recognize that your computer is there.

    One thing I'd try is manually setting your computer to external display mode by using the "Windows Key + P" shortcut, if that doesn't work look around in your settings to make sure your TV is looking for input from the HDMI cable, I know that my monitor has several options and if I'm not on the right one I don't get anything. There can be a "TV" inpute, "HDMI" input, and "PC" input.

    Yes, make sure you're version of HDMI is 1.3 or above to have HDMI sound.
