Sapphire HD2600Pro 512Mb AGP not Aero Compatible?

    Hi,

Have just installed Win 7 Ultimate 32 bit and this card works fine except for the Aero themes. I get corruption on the screen of some title bars and around the window icon. Also the background picture does not display correctly. If I RETURN TO A BASIC THEME THE CARD WORKS PERFECTLY. So I guess Aero is not compatible or is there a setting I am missing. I am running this at 1280 x 1024 resolution. Have installed the Catalyst 10.2 HOTFIX for HD2k/HD3k/HD4k AGP cards for Windows 7 32-bit Edition from the Sapphire web site. Is there anything else I can do to resolve the issue? Thanks

It might be easier just to buy a new video card. I had a Visiontek 2600 and never could get it to work in Windows 7. I tried lots of drivers including the hot fix drivers downloaded from ATI's web site. I don't know if my card was failing or if all the screwing around I did with it damaged it but in the end it wouldn't even work in XP. It was fine before I started playing with Windows 7 though. Its gone into the recycle bin now.

Welcome to Seven Forums you might want to read this thread Install AGP Drivers for HD 3850, 3650, 2400 PRO Then in post #67 you'll see a responce to a memeber usng th same card. This might get your Areo working for you. Good Luck. Fabe

The problem isn't the card or the ATI driver, the problem is that for the most part there is no working AGP driver for the motherboard. There is a default universal AGP driver that installs with Windows, but it a generic one that only supports some of the AGP based chipsets (a cople from Via, old AMD based boards and a couple from SiS). The AGP driver is required so that the driver for the video card will work properly.

Yours is one of the SiS based ones (648FX) which hasn't seen an update of any kind since the last one for XP back in 2005. Give the thread thefabe linked to a good read and try some of the workarounds listed there, and hopefully you can get it working.
