I'm still happy with my GTX260 but I would love to see Nvidia bring out something outstanding and get back on top of their game.
That 260 will be good for a couple of years yet, wait for the software to catch up now. Mind you your like me an lacking in the dx11 compartment.

I can live with that though(cough).

well this is it...... Nvidia are still my ''first choice'', but the drivers have gotten a lot better for the 5 series cards now, they'd of made a killing had they pushed for an earlier release..

but ppl are happier now, on the whole......

personally (depending on the final outcome) i may well still sell the 5970 & jump on the 480 bandwagon, but all im ''currently'' hearing is that Nvidia's ''Tessellation'' blows ATI's offerings away with at least a 50% improvement, that's huge considering 5 series Tessellation is already staggering...

but if Tessellation ends up only playing a small role for gaming application & plays out more in a workstation environment, then its a ''boost'' in the wrong area (for me anyway)

but some unbiased reviews is what we need...... the jury is at about (70-30) in favor of ATI in my camp, but we'll see... :)

the 260 is still a monster for whats currently out there, the fact that new tech is required for DX11 is a real blow for cards that are still very capable...

i decided to keep my 260 as its just such a great card...

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 480/470 is set to debut next month, but the pricing is undoubtedly beyond the budget of mainstream users. NVIDIA has recently revealed that they’re releasing lower-cost Fermi products sometime in the middle of the year.

“Fermi will show up as the GeForce and Tesla first and it will definitely show up first in the highest-performance configuration. Sometime in the mid-part of the year we will see a lower-cost version of that come out both for Quadro and Tesla,” said David White, chief financial officer of NVIDIA, at Goldman Sachs Technology Conference.

Mr. White didn’t mention the GeForce part, and we guess the mainstream version of GeForce should not be coming until the next half of 2010.
David White also described the Fermi architecture as something “equally good for computing, graphics processing or professional usage thanks to modular design”, according to Xbitlabs.

“We did something different when we announced Fermi: we announced it at a compute conference, not a graphics conference. A lot of people interpreted that announcement to mean that this is compute device and we are giving up gaming. That is not the case. Fermi is an entire architecture and it is a modular architecture that allows us to scale the feature-set depending on the market need. So, we will be taping out and announcing a whole stack of Fermi products that will be very specific for computing at the very high-end of the stack and others will be targeted at desktops and personal computing,” added Mr. White.

so..... what can we take from this.??, the 470 & 480 will cost an arm & a leg... but its ok folks, they're gonna release some lower spec ''Fermi'' cards in the summer that will probably match ATI's top-end line up in price, but will be nowhere near as powerful..
    yeps that figures....

Don't go poking around sites for information about the GTX4xx's, Mitch. I stopped after Nvidia have said numerous times on their Facebook that any information on webties are just rumours, so I'm just waiting until end of March myself now.
