Windows 7: Start menu expanded link transparency issue

Start menu expanded link transparency issue

I apologize if this issue has been resolved on this site already. I did a perfunctory search for my problem but found no results.

When I go to start and highlight over a link (ex. Administrative Tools, Control Panel, etc.) the resulting expanded list is completely transparent and blended into the desktop background. I'm not explaining adequately but i'll include a picture.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi inspectorboyd,

Someone else posted about this issue here: Menu HELP PLEASE -- there doesn't appear to be a solution yet, but hopefully it helps to know this isn't an isolated issue.

Display Favorites as a link not a menu in Start Menu
I think the only thing that will work here is a registry hack. By default if you set the start menu properties to display "favorites" it does so by a menu. It does not give you a choice to display this as a link or a menu like it does for other folders. Is there a way to fix this?
