I used CS3 and I was thinking that CS4 is hardware accelerated. Now, I use CS5 with a GTX470 and it is very fast for my expectation. It is a big difference between MPE software and MPE hardware accelerated. The only problem with Premiere CS5 is that sometimes it crashes if I use photos that aren't saved with Premiere.
So, if I copy-paste a photo from Nikon D80 and use it in CS5, it gives some error saying that it can't read exif. If I save the photo with Photoshop Save for web and devices... it works ok. But, at some difficult photo scene (often I make the photo editing in premiere :)), I use 3-5 layers with some combined photos), premiere will play those scenes very bad (hardware) and almost no play (software, if I don't render). And, at export, this seems to be a little difficult, but not imposible.

At Win7 side, the driver of GTX470 crashes some times and restart by itself. I can't use the subtitles (srt, sub) in MediaPlayer (I don't know how, I read some tutorials, but I didn't make it work). I like MediaPlayer to start in full screen, but I can't make it work. And, in premiere I use 2 monitors, one 16:9 with 1680x1050 for timeline and the other 4:3 with 1280x1024 for preview. But, if I use a HDV project and I set full resolution for preview, the driver of GTX470 crashes (both, in MPE hard or soft). This is probably because of 4:3 monitor, because if I disable it, premiere run smooth at full resolution.

And, the most annoying for me, in Win7 I can't make the start menu looks like Windows Classic (. If u can give me some tips...

I'll try and do some tests tonight with some photos from my Canon 40D and see if mine crashes as well. I don't think I have any HDV footage on my computer at the moment to test with though, just 1080P footage from a Canon 7D and a bunch of normal DV footage.

I've seen that a lot of people are having the drivers crash with the GTX 470 for some reason. didn't really look into since I don't have a 470.

I use Zoom Player for my media viewing.
this program may work for your subtitle issue,
Download VobSub 2.23 Free - A filter for Media Player, which can load subtitles (vobsub, ssa, srt, sub, etc.) into movies being played - Softpedia
