Looks like the installation is frozen on one part, do you know how long it should be?

Okay now this is insanity. I don't know what windows 7 has against my graphic card (see my system specs) but it REFUSES to use it or recognize its there, the dxdiag says i have no graphic card or sound card. On top of that there are intel errors. I am so angry i spent money on a new video card and my computer cant/doesnt want to/wont use it. There is something up with windows 7 and graphic cards.

Now, I tried to install the new versions of intel that bobkn linked here. It froze during the process and i had to restart my computer. This is terrible.

So I decided to go ahead and put in my old video card. You know the one that Dell Precision 380 comes with. Quadro FX 1400 if im not mistaken. And guess what? The minute I put that in, the computer picked up on that graphics card, uses it, dxdiag knows its there. Theres more, it fixed my audio problem and intel problems in device manager, it ALSO picked up on my PCI network adapter I had in there which it turns out with my new graphics card isnt getting picked up either. So i spent money on a linksys for no reason. I am so annoyed with Windows 7. Why did they release it if it makes computers not use, not even not properly use, but literally NOT USE a newer video card. I installed the new intel versions at this point with no freezing (still didnt fix it when i went back to the new graphic card)

When i had windows xp it used the new graphic card perfectly (I tried it out on xp before installing 7). During the installation i had 11.8 hours of waiting and it hanged during completing installation and froze. Then I put in my old one and it installed itself in 30 mins. Again, something having to due with graphics card/newer graphic cards and windows 7.

So some people might ask if my new one is broken or something. Well its not, some one linked me a software that is like dxdiag i guess. HWiNFO32. I cant recall the name but thanks alot. This program picks up on the new video card, sound card and the pci network adapter, all of which is not being used or listed in device manager or dxdiag.

In conclusion, I'm going to have to use my old video card until either:
A)Microsoft fixs the problem with an update. New graphic cards work for all
B)I buy ANOTHER graphic card. Making sure to make the salesperson give his word that it is compatible with windows 7
    C)Someone finds a solution.

Yeah I did that. No luck. Is it possible its a hardware problem? Did the change from xp to 7 make some hardware not work on my computer?

Software cannot physically damage hardware, at least not
directly. Have you touched the card lately? Any static?

I touched it, I had to take it out and put it in. But the software you gave me shows that its there under the GPU section. But dxdiag and device manager isnt showing it and the computer isnt using it.

You may have damaged it if there was any static when you touched it. Anyways, take DocBrown's advice.

I wondering if Dell has a Bios update ? Yours is dated 10/28/2005.

Aslo have you run Windows Update to get any latest updates ?
