    Win7 & ati hd5770

    Hi

First of all I am new in hear.. so please forgive any noobish questions..

I have a huge annoying issue..

My PC was a ok running Win xp with a nvidea 8800 gfx card... But i deside to go for Win 7 and get myself a XFX HD5770. So far a very very choise .

I installed the HD5770 on my PC and as i ve dual boot.. I coul see it worked ok with win Xp.

The I installed the WIn7.. that part went ok.. but as the resulution inital was 800*600 I ofc wanted to installe the driver for the gfx card as well. BUT win didnt wanna run the setup.exe on the cd from the gfx-card.. said it was an invalid 32bit program ??.. ok then i browsed the CD and found the win7/vista forlder and installede the driver.. that went ok.. Then I rebooted the PC.. and the PC hangs in the WIN7 loading screen.. and stays there ????? .. I can start win7 in safe mode though.. and can see the motherboard need some drivers.. but it is a A8N-SLI Premium.. so no win 7 drivers out there......

I have tried the same install method with both win7 32 bit and 64 bit... result are the same.. Hangs at loading screen.... HELLLPPP

    Welcome to sevenforums Wamphryi!

I am assuming this is a fresh clean install? You always need to check a new install for drivers through device manager and its recommended to always install chipset drivers 1st, followed by video, etc... Is one of your missing drivers the chipset?

Always try the Vista drivers of the same bit version if there are no specific Win7 drivers.

Here is the Asus page for your mobo A8N-SLI Premium

Can you post a screenshot of device manager?

Boot into safe mode and uninstall the 5770 drivers.

As far as I know, if that driver doesn't work, none of them will.
You can try to download the latest version from their website and hope that works though.

NOOOOOO!!! STAY AWAY FROM ANY GARBAGE LIKE DRIVER WHIZ... might as well spread cheesewhiz on your keyboard!!!!

Go directly to the source for drivers... ATI or XFX! I'd try XFX since they made your 5770.... http://xfxforce.com/en-us/Help/Support.aspx you have to create an account first to gain access.

You had indicated you saw more than one device with issues in device manager... can you post a screen shot please. What other hw doesnt have proper drivers?

I can start Windows 7 in safe mode though.. and can see the motherboard need some drivers.. but it is a A8N-SLI Premium.. so no win 7 drivers out there......

I will post a reply on PC status later today.. it seems removing the 5770 driver and running on normal vga driver makes it boot normally..

also manually installing old old old xp drivers for the motherboards different HW helps a bit..

So far I am very disapointed with Win7... atleast Winxp was able to find all drivers itself .. just by having it online while installing..

will scan web totay for a free tool that automatically can update drivers... now win7 cant.

I had no end of problems with Win 7 and my ATI 5770 until the 10.2 drivers were released. That solved almost all of my problems.

As posted above the 10.3's have been officially released and reviews are positive.
