If you can, reduce the last number to 24, see what happens. I have a friend that have 5970, all he does when we meet is just smile ear to ear, saying his GFX card is the best EVER... (he's running 3 monitors). He's most of the time problem free, gaming wise...

Yes, could be. Enter the BIOS and set up the memory timmings/voltage manually.

now i got another problem. Huge one. After running memtest this night when i try to boot the computer now it starts. all fans start to go and lights and stuff works. but nothing happens on the monitor. ive tried to try without memory modules. buti can only remove 1 at a time. motherboard wont boot without 2 modules. Ive also taken the graphic card out and swapped pci port. still no picture on the monitor.

memtest came up with 0 errors

When nothing is on (no GFX card, no memory) does it beep like all hell break loose (short continuous beep)? If so, then your mainboard is probably OK, stick 1 RAM on the closest slot to your proc, turn on, see if it beeps like this: beeeeeeep beep beep beep (the first one is a bit longer than the next three). If so, then your mainboard + ram is OK. Lastly, plug the GFX... See if it beeps...

Err... no beeps without memory and GFX means your board is (almost 100%) dead... A working mainboard should beep at least to some pattern.

i sat in an old gt8800gtx card. starts up and enters windows without any problems. So it looks like my 5970 card jumped off a cliff

I plugged it in after i tried without memory or gfx. To see if it was the graphic card.

When i tried without memory and gfx card i heard no beeping at all. But i had alot of error lamps going crazy. when i sat in the memory and started with just memory and no gfx. only one led was going crazy. Then i tried my old 8800gtx card. and the computer started as normal. Then i tried the 5970 again. and nothing happened. So i guess the card has gone AWOL. Hope i dont have to buy a new one now :/

It could be the card was faulty all along. With the 5970 in, check each DVI ports. Boot up with F8 and try Safe Mode. If you can get into safe mode, boot up again with F8 and use Low Resolution Mode 640x480 to try and enter Windows. (You don't get any beeps unless your motherboard has an onboard speaker or you have fitted one). Also, can you still Enter the BIOS with the 5970. The 5970 would still be under the manufacturers warranty and you havn't done anything wrong.
