Windows 7: HD 5770 question

HD 5770 question

I've seen a few posts of those with this card and some problems that some have been experiencing...

My question is for those who have this card and have had no problems with it. What is your overall impression of the HD 5770?

I made a stink not-too-long-ago about not upgrading my cards until they break, but I'm seriously looking into cutting down on my power consumption and case thermals (not that my case gets too hot anyway)--mainly for the power consumption.

I'm really looking into one of these--I don't really need anything more powerful as, from what I've read, the higher classed cards really shine on high resolutions. I only run at 2880x900, so a 5850 or 5870 isn't an option because of $ (obviously) and because I don't plan on upgrading monitors for a while. (same thing I said about graphic cards, so...)

Very happy with mine @ 1680x1050, it's all I need. I had toyed with the idea of 5830 but it's not worth the price premium at the moment plus added power consumption and heat.

Besdies the occasional GSOD, I've had an Ok experience with mine. Not flawless, but OK. Most likley because of the drivers. Remains to be seen if they overcome all these little problems with the 5 series lately, any time soon. If I had it to do over again, I probably would have gone with a 5870 instead though. But for the price, I'd say it's still a good card.

Thank you two for your thoughts. I'd like to see a few more...

0 problems.
0 problems at all, I haven't witnessed a single problem with anyone elses 5770 personally (even in crossfire)

I only recently seen these problems on this forum, but I guess me and my friend were lucky or something...
Check my specs, runs everything pretty strongly. Theres bound to be a few benchmarks and reviews floating around on the internet too.

Personally I wouldn't touch the 5830. It's just a crippled card that couldn't cut it as a 5850.

I got my 5770, 5 days ago and it has been fine except for when i play crysis it has line and flickering issues but all other games i have played on it are fine. This is a really good card for the price but being ATI there are some bugs as with alot of there cards.

The 5770 is a great card if you like overclocking. You can get it upwards of a 20% overclock with a good card.

I use mine at 1920x1080, it can be a bit slow in very heavy games, like CoD: WaW and such at this resolution. Though if I were to crossfire two of them together, I would get the performance of a 5870 for circa $250.

From what I've been reading here and elsewhere, seems it is a decent card. As I stated before, my demands are meager so one card should suit me well. But I do like the performance from CrossFire too--if I should elect to go that route.

Now... I just gotta sell one of these 4870s--hopefully both...

Bought one few month back. Liked it so much that bought a second one and set up in Crossfire mode. Both working flawlessly.

For what is worth - I bought XFX brands. After I installed the first one, I realized that the card takes up two slots and covered the adjacent PCI slot. Because of a MoBo design I was forced to take out my sound card and use the onboard sound.

Once convinced that the card was working fine and did not show any trouble, I bought another one and set up in "Crossfire" mode. This time I bought the XFX (Juniper) which has the fan at the back end of the card vs. on the center like the first one. (Same cards spec wise but different component layouts. XFX has three different layouts).

After setting and running in "Crossfire" mode without problems, I broke my budget and bought a new MoBo with plenty PCI slots.

Using Microsoft Visio for floorplan drawings and some games like Crysis, Borderlands and Brothers In Arms without any blue, black or green screen of death. (Fingers crossed).
