I wonder how long this rivalry will play out. Probably till one side does something completely boneheaded, or someone else manages to muscle into the market.

Yea reminds me of 3DFX when they became smug and shot themselves in the foot. Ahhh the memories of getting a 3DFX card and tweaking GLQuake to run transparent water.

Grats on your purchase, I'll be following you soon!

I remember rocking my shiny Ti4200.. lol

and the war continues, but all the fighting, and comparing and yelling over what is better gets very old, just get what you want, or what you can afford, or what brand you'd like. and enjoy it.. I am

Hopefully for a long time to come. Without it I don't believe we'd see new cards very often.

Remember the 3rd party in the battle... Intel. If they could make a discrete card to make Red and Green innovate more...

Life would be that more better.

Most likely either of those two.

However Fermi was supposed to be nvidia's 'bonhead move' but it's turning out not to be the case, so that one can be scratched for now.

And there doesn't look to be any serious muscle contenders on the horizon, so this particular 'debate' isn't going away in the foreseeable future.

I realise the futility of this statement but I'll say it anyway:

"Why can't people simply be happy that not only do they have options, they can also have great performance, regardless of brand/manufacturer?"

But that's just logic and logic has no place in fanboi wars

I'm just glad these things are now out in the real world and we are stating to get real world reports.

So, if ATI is Red, Nvidia is Green, would that make Intel Blue?

If you want to kill me for the pun, so be it.

    Yes they are...
and smarteyeball I wish everyone had your same values on that.

Update, so i knew this card was going to be a little warm.. it idles great, but under gaming load it gets pretty toasty. but Nvidia clearly stated the temps at 90c are ok. I just played around 2 hours of Crysis Warhead... all maxed on Enthusiast, with 1920x1200 24" resolution. and I'm getting great FPS.

Whats even more amazing, I don't know who's all played Crysis and warhead, but adding AA to that game KILLED your framerates but made the game look amazing.. I remember adding even 8xAA and my 260's would struggle seriously, but this 480 is able to handle 8xQAA as well as full 16xAA and my frames only dropped about 2-3 FPS. i was amazed. the game looks incredible with that all turned on and at a full resolution.. I will say I was taxing my system pretty hard and the temps did get up to 91C in Warhead. but that was with 65% fan speed. I set it manually to 80% and I was at full load around 80c witch is perfectly playable.

BC2, JC2, and more coming tomorrow
