Sad Poll result seems like pure fanboy reaction, rather than a marker of what is good right now.

I have an NVidia card but I am not brand loyalist, I just look at what is best, and now ATI has been in the drivers seat for at least half a year, they have revamped almost the complete line and have newer tech in almost every price level.

NVidia only has new technology in their very late, very expensive, very power hungry chips.

Don't buy NVidia right now unless you are die hard NVidia loyalist.
Despite what people here say about performance being paramount, the poll reflects the fact that nVidia is a more stable technology. Just look at the number of ATI driver issue threads in this forum. I'd guess they reflect the reciprocal of this poll.

ATI cards may perfrom well, but there is a price for that performance.

Maybe in a few months, when they respin, but by then ATI will have the 6000 series out and Nvidia's advantage will be nullified.

That is unsubstantiated fanboy FUD. You simply can't get an unbiased opinion from a brand loyalist (AKA fanboy). ATI hasn't had driver issues in several years/generations and I recently got burned installing new NVidia drivers that came out without proper fan controls, but I wouldn't use that against NVidia. Mistakes happen. These days drivers are high quality from both camps.

I have zero brand loyalty. My last two cards NVidia (and current in my system). I didn't trash talk ATI, Nvidia simply was the best choice I am keeping my 8800GT for some time to come. The 8800 family (and renames) have dominated for years, so we have more enthusiasts who own them, so you are going to get more recommendations for them.

Just like the NV8800 was the go to choice in it's day, the ATI HD5000 series is the go to choice today. The have smaller, cooler running chips, they drive 3 monitors instead of two, they have all the latest DX11 features and they generally have better price performance.

In 6 months the landscape my look different and I might say NVidia again, but these days ATI is the go to choice.

In my pre-Vista days, I had a really good Nvidia card, but I can't remember the number. It didn't work well under Vista, and i had heard there were a large number of problems with Nvidia and Vista at the time, so I bought ATI and I've been using them since.

I run an AMD system and ATI's driver package usually updates everything, including some of the motherboard drivers. It just seems more unified for an AMD system. If I had an Nvidia chipset, I'd buy Nvidia. Both have their strengths, and both have their weaknesses.

I would say that, some of the problems you see with ATI drivers and games come from a direct impact of Nvidia paying off game developers to optimize their games for Nvidia graphics. (I have no proof though)

I don't have a preference one way or another on nVidia or ATi. But I can come from a debugger's perspective here. I see more BSODs caused by nVidia drivers than ATi drivers.

Now, you can argue, if nVidia is more popular, that may explain it. I have no idea. All I know is what I see.

AMD/ATI is always all around better priced for the power. At this point though all dual gpu dx11 are extreme priced, so its fanboyism that you buy.

    Very true.

ATI hasn't had driver issues in several years/generations
    Unfortunately, not so true.

The sad and simple fact is that Cat drivers 'always promise' but somehow never quite manage to deliver.

Their mantra is 'it will fixed in the next release' - sometimes the fixes either never show up, or when they do, they take a long time to be resolved.

They also have a unique knack of fixing an issue with a release, only to break something else in the process. By the time they re-fix it (if they do) - something else gets broken

On the whole, they are rarely 'show stoppers' - but occasionally there are title dependent 'game stoppers'.

Those that claim they have zero issues simply aren't playing the games that have the issues, or if it doesn't happen to them - then the problem doesn't exist

Having said that, nvidia drivers aren't all smiles and sunshine either. There have been some less than stellar releases from them as well.

The happiness level invariably stems from current usage.

    ►When Game A + driverset A + Working = happy.

    ►When Game B + driverset A + Not Working = unhappy.

The bottom line is - when a driverset from either camp works for most titles - users are happy. When they don't, they are very unhappy.

I really have no preference, they both have their good points and both have their bad points. It's then up to an individual to discern which outweighs which.

Ohhh yeah. Under Vista, every other time there was an update, it would break my video playback in MC, and I'd have to roll back and wait for a "fix".

Seems to be different with Seven.
