I'm not a video card fanboy by any means. However, I've found throughout the years that when I am using a Linux machine, the ATI cards are very hit or miss...but the Nvidia cards have always been easier to get up and running. For this reason, I typically only consider Nvidia cards for my computer....regardless of whether I plan to use Linux on the machine.

However, as of late, the performance of the 5750 cards for the price is untouched by Nvidia. And I'm very drawn to the lower power and low noise output of these video cards. So, if I were to upgrade my 9800GTX+ right now, it would be the 5750.

With my current eVGA 9800GTX+, I had a problem with a recent Nvidia driver where my box would spin up the video fan when necessary but would not slow it back down at all. This is the first real issue I have had with Nvidia in awhile...and an earlier version didn't have this problem and was fixed in later versions.

    LMAO! That's hilarious!

I run an AMD system and ATI's driver package usually updates everything, including some of the motherboard drivers.
So does NVIDIA. I ran the NVIDIA updater when I first installed Windows 7, and it updated my chipsets as well.

Again, this all boils down to personal preference. Period.

I have owned both ATI and nVidia cards.

I have had fewer issues with nVidia cards so when I built a new PC back in January I went with nVidia. No regrets.

If you want to spread Driver FUD back it up with data.

It shouldn't be about personal brand preference, but that is lost on someone with a NVidia logo as their Avatar (AKA Diehard Fanboy).

Sensible unbiased folks, just buy whatever is best in a given time frame. I used ATI 9700 Pro during it's run, I switched to NVidia during the 8800 rise to top(still using it BTW), and today I would get an ATI HD 5000 series card. The same goes for CPUs I bought AMD Athlons when they were on top, switched back to Intel when the Core chips were on top and when I buy my next computer, it could easily switch back to AMD if they have the best product.

If you were unbiased these choices were obvious in each of those eras. If you are a Fanboy choosing based on brand, then your opionion is useless. Being a brand fanboy is childish nonsense best left on the schoolyard.

Umm, I'm not a "fanboy" but someone that says ATI hasn't had driver problems for generations obviously is. Grow up.

I use a NVidia Card and I recommend ATI (at this time).

You are die hard NVidia Fan/user recommending NVidia and have a NVidia Logo as your Avatar.

It doesn't take stunning powers of deduction to see who the Fanboy is.

       Warning
Calm down, please. We've had similar threads before where they've turned into a form of slanging match between the ATI and NVidia camps.

If you took the time to read ALL my comments in this thread, you would have seen where I stated that both ATI, and NVIDIA are quality products. You obviously missed that. My avatar is NVIDIA, and my Sig also bears the logos of what I'm currently running in my system. Sorry, but that doesn't make me a "fanboy" [which is a downright childish word to begin with].

Anyone who is assanine enough to say that ATI has not had any driver issues for generations would be considered a "fanboy" if you ask me, because that's just plain WRONG. What would possibly motivate someone to say something so clearly false? Being a "fanboy."

I'm no longer going to argue with an obvious childish mentality. Good day to you.
