Windows 7: LG W2243S VGA monitor problem on Windows 7

21 May 2010   #11

Windows 7 64 bit

Thanks for all your help.

It looks like it's the monitor. I tried my friends monitor using my PC and cables and it detected 1920x1080 straight away. Then I plugged my monitor back in and it only detected 1600x1200. I called LG and they have sent someone out to collect the monitor to repair it. Fingers crossed this will fix the problem.

Thanks again.

I think it's just the cable! If you didn't give it away yet for service, try using another cable. If not, let's just wait and see

I tried the cable on my friends monitor and it worked fine. It's just not working with my monitor.

Is there any chance you could find a third cable? And do you use an adapter ? Or do you have a VGA output on your graphics card?

I use a VGA adaptor that came with the graphics card as the graphics card socket is DVi. LG are now telling me that it is running at optimum resolution in their tests so I don't know what to do. Fingers crossed it will be working when I get it back.

Ok, I recommend that you have two sets of cable and adapter connection and if it is possible to find another -working- monitor for reference I'm sure you can isolate the problem. By testing different combinations of those you'll find out if you have a bad cable, a bad adapter etc. Don't worry, we'll sort it out!

Same problem here with W2243S and AMD 7770. I used CCC to select 1920 X 1080 and 60Hz and it worked!
