Do Some Sites Make Video Work Harder?

My video card was overheating and my system "beeping". I added a second fan in the area of it and it is fine now except for one site I visit. It is the ESPN Fantasy Baseball Site where the players stats are updated in real time as they are playing. I still get a "beep" from my computer when I visit that site. I just wondered if some sites put extra stress on video cards and if the one I describe might be one of those sites. Thanks,

Although some video can certainly stress a system, what you're describing doesn't really have anything to do with video. Of course, I don't know much about sports but I do know about web design and computers. That being said, I've gone to the ESPN Fantasy Baseball site and there is nothing there that would cause a GPU issue. When you say your computer is "beeping", is it coming from the tower itself or from your speakers?

Looking at your specs I don't see any reason you should be having any issues graphically. As a side note, if you are/were experiencing overheating issues your machine would either fritz out (anomalies or artifacts on your screen) or it would shut itself down. There are safeguards in place within the BIOS of each piece of hardware. A threshold if you will.

Sounds to me like the issue might lay somewhere else. First, let's find out where the beeping is actually coming from.

If it is overheating, when was the last time you popped the side off and cleaned out the dust bunnies?

It was cleaned out yesterday when the new fan was installed. My video card was hot to the touch. I was getting alot of beeping before the fan. Now the metal part of the card is not hot to touch, but I still get beeping on this one site only at this link FantasyCast - ESPN Fantasy Baseball 2010
The site is not active at this time. It would be active in three hours from the time of this post when the games start. Like I say this is the only site that causes a problem and I was just curious if this type of site would put extra stress on a video card. It has constantly changing numbers on the page as the stats are updated in real time. This is not really a problem, I was just curious about this. Thanks, PS -- The beeping is coming from the tower. It is one beep and a pause with another beep.

There is nothing graphically intensive at that link. If anything, constantly refreshing and or updating statistical information could certainly spike your CPU usage. I also did a quick check and my video card temps didn't even so much as twitch at that site. You still haven't answered the question though. Where is the beeping coming from? :)

In my previous post on the last line I said it was coming from the tower, not the speakers. == Also as I said the site is not active at this time so it is not possible to tell if the constant updating would spike anything. Thanks,

I just noticed you had another thread as well. Hence the new fan in your system. Have you checked the temperature of the video card when the beeping occurs? In fact, have you checked the temperatures for everything before and after the beeping occurs?

I noticed in your other thread you checked the temperatures in the BIOS. The BIOS doesn't always give the correct temperatures. It's also incapable of showing your temperatures when under load.

Here are a few programs you can use to check and monitor your temperatures:

    Core Temp
Real Temp - CPU temperature monitoring
Download SpeedFan - Access temperature sensor in your computer

Some of the above do not work with Single Core CPU's, but it doesn't hurt to try.

That being said, I would definitely monitor your temperatures directly while using the system. If you need to check the temperature of your graphics card, the above programs provide that option as well with the exception of Core Temp if I remember correctly. Taking your previous thread into account here, I'd say you're still overheating. But there isn't any reason the website itself would be causing it, at least not through your graphics card. It's simply text with a few image files. If anything the site would cause your CPU usage to spike.
