Check signal cable with new Samsung monitor

I purchased a new Samsung B2030 monitor today. I have a two year old or so HP Nc6230 laptop. I just installed Windows 7 Ultimate and I am getting the check signal cable from the new monitor. Now I understand this has to do with installing the latest software from ATI which is my video card manufacturer. But it seems as though they do not have drivers for a Windows 7 equipped laptop. I am already not able to experience the "Aero" graphics features because I have an older video card. Am I out of luck here and need to purchase a new laptop? If not how can I get my laptop to work with my new monitor? Thank you.

Which cable are you using to connect the new monitor? Try both the combinations, that is VGA and DVI.

I am using the VGA. I can only connect this cable to my laptop. I do not see a place to connect the DVI cable in my laptop. I think it is too old to use it. Also my specs say I have a standard VGA video card.

Also, when I get this up and running do I select digital or analog when setting up the monitor?

Try both digital and analog and see if either of them works.
