Just for reference, here in the states the 260 and 5770 are mostly identical price wise.

The GTX260 was £139.99 & the XFX 5770 was £127.99 so say £12~ difference. The same XFX is also there with AvP for £139.99 lol. I was looking at the XXX edition (149.99) but after reading reviews on the standard card i can probably get it to that speed easily anyways. (875MHz/5200MHz)

I darent play anything atm incase i burn my ATI X1950 out lol. 108c was pretty bad for a GPU.

Roll on monday!

Get 260, you won't benefit from a Dx11 card as weak as 5770, either get a card from the 5800 series or get a card from Nvidia's 400 series..

Wow, what a shot! Weak is a relative term. Weaker than what? The 5800 series? Of course. The Fermi cards? Yes, you bet. But according to the OP's specs, he has a monitor with a resolution of 1440x900--the 5770 is WAY powerful enough to push every game the OP has at its max resolution.

Every tech site that has ever reviewed any of the 5800 cards always state that the card shines at higher resolutions. So a 5800 card would be overkill on a 19 inch, 1440x900 monitor.

If the OP is looking to upgrade the monitor in the not too distant future, then maybe a 5800 card or an nVidia 400 card may be worth considering. If no monitor upgrade is in the works, then go with the 5770.

I only had £150 budget im afraid otherwise i probably would have went for a higher spec card. Im happy with my 19" monitor for now. The card needed upgrading first as my old card is seriously overheating while gaming. 108c after a hour of code of honour 2 was pretty bad lol. Im not really a pro gamer i will only play a few like BFBC2 & GTAIV and im pretty sure that the HD5770 will play them both without fault. My board is X-Fire also so im presuming ATI will work smoother with my mobo.

Cheers for the advice guys

Have to agree with this statement, my 5750 handles the games I play
quite nicely @1680x1050(mostly FPS's). So week as compared to the high end? Yes. In general? Hardly.
Added benefit, you likely don't need to upgrade your PSU and you don't need a forklift to install the card.

I totally respect your opinion but I'm only talking from my personal experience with 5770 .. I also have a 19" screen and at 1440*900 the 5770 was pretty much coughing with Dx11 games (it was pretty good with dx10 games).. BC2 on the highest resolution was barely playable, same goes with DIRT2 and finally Metro slaughtered it.. And these games were just the start of Dx11, what about the upcoming games from now on??

5770 is a pretty weak card with Dx11 games, that's why I say there is no point in going into the Dx11 world with such a weak card, cause it barely handles Dx11 games right now, what about the upcoming games? what about games next year?

The OP isn't going to play COD4 forever, he is gonna start playing a newer COD at some point which is pretty much gonna use Dx11..

It's true that 5770 is better than 260 but he is not gonna benefit from a Dx11 card such as 5770 since it barely handles the actual Dx11 games even on a low resolution such as 1440*900..

I suggest to the OP to either get the strongest Dx10 card he could afford or save more money and get a card that could actually run Dx11 games such as 5800 series or fermi..

I play BFBC2 (a DX11 game) at 1920x1080 on a 25" screen with max settings just fine. You must have a bad 5770 then.
