P6T Deluxe SLI Win7, won't boot

Sorry the Bios upgrade did not help. As I re-read your original post several times, some questions came to my mind. Perhaps the answers may shed more ideas on helping you solve your problem.

First stated:"freeze at "Starting Windows", freeze at "Welcome", freeze after getting to the desktop. ONLY when nVidia Control Panel has "Enable SLI" set (all nvidia drivers WHQL and Beta), IF I shut down the system with sli disabled, it will start up without any worries and does appear to run both cards in SLI perfectly while in operation.

Anyway to verify that SLI is working without the Nvidia drivers? Why the need to Enable SLI with Nvidia control panel? Does'nt Gigabyte provide a user control panel for their SLI cards?

Then you stated: So basically the Gigabyte drivers (GV-N98XPZL-1GH - GIGABYTE - Support&Download - Graphics Accelerator - Driver) work with 'enable SLI' perfectly, whereas the nvidia drivers do not...

Do you need the Nvidia drivers at all? If so, why?

Another thing I noticed is that you are running Windows 7 in 32 bit mode vs. 64 bits. Any particular reason for this? With such a powerful MoBo and CPU I would recommend installing 64 bit and try again.

I really hope you can solve your problem since the games you mentioned should work and look awesome with the hardware you have.

Please continue to post all your findings so all who have the same MoBo can reference it in the future.

Thanks for all the help guys, much appreciated. The BIOS upgrade may have actually done something, else I have just got my first stroke of pure luck (lasting for now..). Went through all old drivers off Nvidia starting back from 186 with all versions up until 191 giving the graphical problems but booting up in SLI without problems. On 191, seems I can boot on SLI as well (well it looks to be working for the time being.. so it's a good sign finally) with few minor graphical lag and some glitches in the newer games. All in all this looks to be the driver I'm going to stick with until nvidia do something better with their drivers. That being said, I am pretty sure the 191.whatever drivers in SLI did not work prior to that BIOS update (or just something else has changed between then and now).

I think I'll keep looking around for a better solution, but hey at least I don't have to safe mode every time I forget to turn off SLI! HURRAH!!!

My MoBo came with V1303 and I have been using it without any BSOD. Never upgraded because of the old saying; "If it works, Don't fix-it".

I am using dual XFX ATI Video cards in Crossfire mode. A friend of mine, with same MoBo as ours, is running Nvidia GTX285 in SLI without problems either. He is also using Bios V1303.

Check ASUS web page. There are seven (7) Bios upgrades after V1303. You may find something useful/helpful with your problem:

Avoid the Bios upgrade unless you find out for sure this is the cause of your problems. Visit the web site and read what each upgrade solves.

Bad perogative.

keep an eye on the Intel i7 errata, you'll know when its a good time to upgrade the bios. for instance the recent asus bios's had an unstable QPI voltage.
