Is there a diiference beetween PCIe x16 and PCIe x16 2.0

Are there both PCIe x16 and PCIe x16 2.0 cards/slots out there ? If so will a PCIe x16 2.0 work ok in an regular PCIe x16 ?

    Thanks

    Most newer cards are PCIe x16 2.0 & 2.1
PCIe x16 2.0 is backwards compatible with PCIe x16

Graphic cards and motherboards designed for v2.0 will be able to work with v1.1 and v1.0

Yes, I have an Asus M2N68-AM SE2, it only has a PCIe 1 x16 slot and my 220GT is PCIe 2 x16. It works fine but I am likely not getting its maximum performance.

2.0 effectively doubles the bandwidth compared to 1.0/1.1. Depending on the complexity of textures/rendering the bandwidth will be beneficial. And as the others stated 2.0 cards are backwards compatible.

in real terms your looking at about 2fps so i wouldnt worry about it , more powerfull cards are able to take advantage of the extra bandwidth , yours isnt really

    It's somewhat like this: 16x pcie 2.0 = around 8x pcie 1.0.

On a 5870 a 16x pcie 1.0 slot will bottleneck the gpu for around 1~2%, while bottlenecking a 5970 for around 8% or more..
