mobile intel 945 express chipset for hp pavillion dv5000

I have mobile intel 945 express chipset for my hp pavillion dv5000 laptop. Is there a windows 7 update for the driver? and what is the maximum resolution if anyone knows? Before I upgraded to windows 7 I didn't check how high the screen resolution can go but hopefully I can make it larger because everything is so compressed at 1024 x 768 I want to see it in a larger resolution but I'm not sure if there is an upgrade or if it's even possible.

If there is an updated driver for your chipset it can be found using the driver update utility available at Intel® Driver Update Utility.

This should sort you out.

thank you so much!

do you know if the screen resolution can only go up a certain point and should it say for my monitor generic PnP monitor or should it say something else? Because for my dell their are more resolution sizes. I'm just wondering. If you can help or not either way thank you

All monitors have various resolutions that they will run at.

Higher definition monitors will have more resolutions available (although you'll want to run it at the highest (native) resolution for the best expierience.

If you run a monitor at an unsupported resolution for any period of time it will break; although getting it onto an unsupported red is near impossible these days.

Generic PnP monitor is correct.

Your Dell's screen is probably bigger and higher res thus having more resolutions available.

As you are new to the forum I thought you might like to know how to mark threads as solved as well as the uses of some of the other buttons.

To the top right of this post you will see 3 icons. An orange (+), a set of scales and a red and white warning triangle.

The orange (+) or blue (-) denotes whether a user is on or offline (orange = on, blue = off).

The scales are used to give rep points; click this button if someone has helped you significantly or solved your queries (only give this to posts that you think really deserve it).

The red and white warning triangle is used to denote either an abusive post OR to mark a thread as solved (just put solved in the box that comes up and the admins or moderators will mark it solved).

If you have any more questions please ask.

It varies from manufacturer to manufacturer, model to model, price range to price range.

I used to have a 15" laptop with a screen resolution of 1024:768 but now I have a 13" laptop with a screen resolution of 1280:800.

Max resolution of that chipset on a Dell is 1440x900. Using it @that now.
