1. Set PCI-E to be the primary
2. Disable Onboard Graphics
3. (would I need to change anything for my audio card?)
4. (would I need to change anything about shared memory?)

then at what point should I plug my 8800 back in?
remove the battery , insert the 8800, replace the battery, reboot , at the very first boot screen you see it should be the graphic card bios, if you do not see that do not worry at this point [it may flash up to fast for you to see it] let it go through its start up sequence and see what happens , download these drivers NVIDIA DRIVERS 197.45 WHQL and install them , good luck with all this

Thanks so much! I'll let you know how it goes.. hopefully when I start it up it will actually boot this time. If I reset it just like you said and it still refuses to boot, its the slot that is broken correct?

It has been a very long time, but still no working card. Just tried it once again today and the damn thing is still giving me issues. My last thought before selling the graphics card and waiting to buy a new computer is that I should just do a fresh clean install.. only issue is I got Windows 7 through my college and I no longer have the disc they gave me. I should be able to re-burn it or use one of my fellow students, except I also got the product key for my windows edition from them and I no longer have that.. Before I do a clean install is there a way to look up what my key is?? I know the "Product ID" from system properties and It shows that my windows 7 is genuine but I do not know if that will allow me to install this version of windows again since I don't have the "Product Key"..

uhg.
